Federal Judge grants preliminary injunction to remove RFK Jr. from ballots
A federal appeals court in Michigan has ordered Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be temporarily removed from the November ballot for governor.
The decision, issued Wednesday, sides with a Tuscola County judge who initially dismissed RFK Jr.'s petition to run stating RFK Jr. falsified information on his candidate filing statement, as he failed to maintain residency in Michigan over the past 7 years.
Kennedy's attorneys have vowed to appeal the decision to the Michigan Supreme Court.
RFK Jr. could prevail in the Supreme Court appeal
Legal experts believe it is possible Kennedy could still run in the election but the Appeals Court decision certainly deals a blow to his campaign.
A recent poll showed Kennedy trailing incumbent Gretchen Whitmer by 25 points.
Kennedy, the son of slain US Senator Robert F. Kennedy, has been a vocal critic of Covid-19 vaccines, which has drawn attention from the anti-vaccine mandate crowd.
His endorsement of Garrett Soldano in the GOP gubernatorial primary provided Soldano the edge in victory.
A spokesperson for Kennedy’s campaign said that they are “evaluating our options and will be making an announcement soon.”
