Football Season Begins, Michigan Set to Allow Alcohol Sales

Ann Arbor to Allow Tailgating Alcohol Sales

The Michigan football season opener is this Saturday, and the University of Michigan has announced that they will begin allowing alcohol sales at football games.

The policy change comes after a two-year pilot program that allowed alcohol sales at select games. The university says that the pilot program was successful and that they have received positive feedback from fans.

Alcohol will be sold at designated areas of Michigan Stadium, and fans will be allowed to purchase up to two drinks per transaction.

  • Sections 101-108
  • Sections 201-208
  • Sections 301-308
  • Sections 401-408

Alcohol Sales Hours

  • Two hours before kickoff
  • Until the end of the third quarter

Permitted Alcohol

  • Beer
  • Wine
  • Spirits

Purchase Limits

  • Two drinks per transaction
  • No more than four drinks per person

Responsible Consumption

The university is reminding fans to drink responsibly and to be aware of their limits.

Fans who are intoxicated will not be allowed to enter the stadium, and they may be subject to arrest.

The university is also encouraging fans to use designated drivers or to take public transportation to and from games.
