Andy Murray has defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis in a thrilling five-set match at the Australian Open, prevailing 4-6, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-3, 7-5 in a match that lasted nearly six hours.
Momentum Swings
The match was a seesaw battle with both players trading breaks and holding serve throughout the contest. Murray missed his chance to serve out the match at 5-4 in the third set, but he regrouped to take the tiebreak 7-5.
Kokkinakis broke Murray in the opening game of the fourth set, but Murray broke back immediately and went on to take the set 6-3. In the fifth set, Murray secured the crucial break at 4-4 when Kokkinakis missed a forehand long. Murray then held serve and cracked a service winner to seal the victory.
